The NCLAT has stayed ban imposed by CCI on 2021 WhatsApp-Meta data sharing policy. The CCI had imposed Rs. 213.14 crore penalty on Meta for abusing its dominant position through WhatsApp's 2021 privacy policy. NCLAT stayed the five-year ban and asked to implement behavior remedies. Notably, the Tribunal also observed that DPDP Act has been passed, which may cover all matters pertaining to data protection and data sharing.
