Government wants CCI to investigate Big Four auditing firms

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs reportedly wants CCI to assess whether the so-called “Big Four” auditing firms (KPMG, EY, Deloitte, and PWC) and their affiliates are hurting competition in any manner by abusing their dominance; however, as of now, no formal reference has yet been made to the CCI. In India, the Big Four do auditing work for almost 60% of the top 500 companies that trade on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), according to corporate data tracker NSE Infobase.
