According to sources, European Commission has opened anti-trust investigation into Amadeus and Sabre, two major global distribution systems for airline tickets on concerns that their agreements with airlines and travel agents might result in more expensive plane tickets.
The investigation focuses on possible restrictions in competition in the market for airline ticket distribution services.
EC will investigate whether the terms of Amadeus’ and Sabre’s agreements with airlines and travel agents limit them from using other ticket services that may be cheaper for European consumers.
