Digital Data Protection Act receives assent from President

The President of India granted assent to Digital Data Protection Act, 2023. The Act aims to protect digital personal data of citizens and ensure data security by making data fiduciaries liable to be penalised for data breaches. A new authority, Data Protection Board, will be set up to oversee compliance of the Act.
