Competition (Amendment) Bill, 2022 would bring new provisions for antitrust enforcement, like settlements and commitments, leniency plus programme, hub-and-spoke cartels, revamp administrative framework of CCI, and thus, attempts to bring global best practices to Indian competition regime. In combinations, deal value thresholds are brought to review mergers and acquisitions, and clarity is brought to relevant definitions like control, value of transaction and review timeline is reduced from 210 days to 150 days for fast track approval.
