The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has updated its rules for recovering penalties. These amendments aim to provide clearer procedures and improve the effectiveness of penalty collection for violations of the Competition Act, 2002. Key changes include a 60-day payment deadline from the date of the CCI's order, with possible extensions or instalment options available upon application before the due date. It also provides for simple interest of 1% on outstanding penalty amount, which is subject to changes if adjudicated by NCLT, Supreme Court or High Court.
