CCI has imposed a penalty on 51 vendors for forming a cartel in the bidding process in supplying LPG gas cylinders to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited. Further, the key individuals of 48 such vendors were penalized under section 48 of the act. CCI on comparison of price bids submitted by vendors found a similarity of pattern in most of the 18 States for which the bidding had taken place.
