RBI reopens scheme for FPI investments in debt

The RBI raised the investment limit for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) in government and corporate bonds, a move that is likely to bring in more foreign funds in the country. The RBI has doubled the investment cap for FPIs under the ‘voluntary retention route’ (VRR) to Rs1.5-lakh crore. These limits will be available ‘on tap’ and allotted on ‘first come, first served’ basis.
