India attracts $22 bn FDI in first half of 2018: UNCTAD Report

According to UNCTAD’s Report, Investment Trends Monitor, India attracted $22 bn FDI in first half of 2018. It led 13% rise in FDI in South Asia.

Also, it managed to stay in top ten host economies receiving the most FDI during the period.

China was the largest recipient of FDI with $70 bn, closely followed by UK with $65.5 bn.

The third largest was U.S. with $46.5 bn. The Netherlands, Australia, Singapore, and Brazil received $44.8 bn, 36.1 bn, 34.7 bn, and 25.5 bn respectively, all higher than India.

The report said that while there has been a decline in FDI, there has also been 42% increase in greenfield projects to $454 bn.
