To strengthen linkage with industry, the latest budget announced a comprehensive internship scheme earmarking Rs 63,000 cr. It aims to provide internship opportunities at 500 top companies to 10 mn youth over the next five years, exposing them for 12 months to 'real-life business environments, varied professions, and employment opportunities'. An allowance of Rs 5 a month along with a one-time Rs 6k will be provided, with companies expected to bear the training cost and 10% of internship cost from their CSR funds.
